VW New Beetle For Sale |
|
|
| Today is 22nd
Feb 2008, precisely 10 years to the day (22nd feb 1998) when I placed my order for my Beetle,
and just over 8 years since it was delivered, but the time has come to
sell it. I presently have 4 cars, and something needs to go. This is the longest I have ever kept any vehicle, which speaks
volumes about what a fantastic car it has been. It has been 100% reliable,
and a joy to own. It is one of the very first RHD UK spec Beetles, bought new from Camerons VW in Perth and serviced on the dot ever since. It is a black 2.0 litre, with cream cloth interior, plus winterpack (fog lights, heated seats, etc) cruise control and the VW CD multi-player. I have recently had a Parrot Bluetooth hands free phone kit professionally fitted, which is very unobtrusive, looks like it was fitted by the factory. It is registered Feb 2000, on a V plate. There are a few custom touches, like genuine American chrome VW badges front and rear, stainless kick plates, stainless door lock pins, and a black spoked steering wheel. I have a personal registration number on it at the moment which will be removed prior to sale. It has done 95,000 miles, every one of them by me, and frankly with a wash and polish it still looks half its age, and still drives like the day I bought it. It has been religiously serviced, with a fully stamped book, and every receipt retained. The only work of note I have had to do has been a new lambda sensor and MAF unit, which is a common failure anyway. It had new ARB links too a few years back, another common one. It comes with two sets of wheels ... a set of 16" "Porsche Cup" style alloys with virtually brand new 225 section tyres, and another set of genuine VW steel 16" wheels, again with a recent set of 205 tyres. I always run the steels through the winter. Both sets are included in the sale. It was serviced and MOT'd just yesterday (the MOT is for 13 months) and I road taxed it for a year just a week or two back, so it could not be more ready to go. | Hard to know
what to price it at. I was initially asking £4,750 which I thought was fair, given the spec,
condition and history.
I have however now lowered the price to £3750 Ideally I'd like it to go to another obsessive
petrolhead like myself. I'm in Fife in Scotland, but we are quite
civilised up here now! You can phone me on 01337 830272 or 07795 063040 or
email me on johnh@arthurlea.com
To complicate matters I work away from home over the weekends, but am
available during the week. |
